Across a span of several years, the two Lake Faeries, sisters, had explored both the northern and southern reaches of the lake’s eastern shore.
Never too far inland, however, and certainly never out across the water. But on this glorious, star-studded summer evening, a fireworks-like display of magical lights had lit up the lake’s far shore, beckoning them to come explore.
Faerie cousins, that’s who it must be. And to think, they’d never, ever, met even one of them. Well, they would just have to fix that sorry state of affairs, wouldn’t they?
Delighted at their discovery and their impulsive decision, the sisters laughed and hugged each other.
Should they go now? Right now? Oh yes, definitely yes!
With growing excitement they lifted into the warm night air and headed west, directly out over the water. This stretch of lake was wide and the journey would be long, but they had each others’ company and encouraging words to keep them going.
And soon, so very soon, they would be dancing with their faerie cousins.
