Soulful music, languid dancing, and a moonlit stroll along a balcony overlooking the sleepy sea.
A perfect night.
It was a first date, to be sure, yet after only an hour together all first-date awkwardness simply melted away. Conversation became increasingly easy, and soft laughter filled the air wherever they walked. Their obvious delight in each other’s company was as natural as the gentle sea breeze ruffling their fur.
As they continued along the balcony, their conversation flowed effortlessly as each step provided yet another opportunity to share more of their innermost selves.
Then the kiss, stolen, but in no way unwelcome.
It lingered past a casual peck. It lingered far past a “I think you’re special” smooch. It went on and on and on. This was the kiss reserved for lovers when words are no longer enough.
He was her bear, and she was his. They were honey-bears.
